Spontaneous Puppetry and Storytelling

In this age of pedagogy and curricula, spontaneous storytelling has become a rarity. Working with children at Prakriti Ecoplay has taught us that planning actually doesn't work a lot of times with children. Spontaneity and the use of surroundings is something that works wonders in understanding a concept or just enjoying the story.

Based on our observations and unlearning, we realized that children enjoy spontaneity, they also imbibe the process and experiment with intuition and spontaneity which is very natural to them. We have been able to create songs, stories and puppets spontaneously over the period of 7 years and have observed that children add on a lot of little picks into the process.

We make puppets with things which are around us or we also carry waste material with us. We essentially make the puppets in front of the audience so that they enjoy the process and add on their spontaneity to it. We try to work with the sustainable materials with recycling on our mind.

These shows can be a part of an event or a children's gathering or schools. The subjects chosen for events can be decided by the organizers or children or ideally they pop up at the event. We work with a variety of themes which include science, math, history, art, stories and other subjects for up to 14 year old. All of these events are interactive and interaction increases as the age increases.

We have worked with different sizes of audience ranging from a few children to a few hundred. And we had a wonderful experience each time. Here we come to share our joy in spontaneous puppetry and storytelling.
